Lagos is not only Nigeria’s commercial capital but also one of the most densely populated cities in Africa. It only makes sense that security will be a top priority for stakeholders in its tech ecosystem. After all, all of Nigeria’s “180 million” market is served first through Lagos, more often than not. It’s important that the city is secure and safe.
The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) has already been doing a lot of interesting stuff within the ecosystem so it’s not very surprising that it is partnering (through its Lagos Innovates project) with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Passion Hub to hold a security-focused hackathon called the “Secure Lagos Hackathon”.
The three-day hackathon will focus on new ways to secure the lives and properties of Lagos residents using technology based security solutions that will enhance the operations of existing agencies.
For a little more motivation, there are N2 million and N1 million cash prizes for the first and second brightest ideas showcased at the hackathon respectively. The hackathon will run from May 18th till 20th.
Most importantly, there aren’t any barriers to entry for the Secure Lagos Hackathon – all you need is a well-thought out idea so if this sounds like your thing, be sure to apply here.
