Development as dignity: Dapo Oyewole at TEDxIkoyi



Policy adviser and Yale World Fellow, Dapo Oyewole recalls how as a child he overheard adults describing Nigeria as “third world”. He finds this difficult to accept, and refutes the idea that advanced infrastructure alone is the yardstick for measuring societal development. He emphasizes that development of a society is incomplete if it does not offer dignity to its citizens.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
